Most girls on my cheer team call themselves “fat” when most of them are really not ( I find myself at this stage to ).
It’s terrifying looking in the mirror everyday and seeing a body that you’re not happy with! It’s hard looking at my sister and seeing how much lower her weight is to me even though she is only 18 months older than me. UGH! It’s just so hard! I can’t seem to lose weight! My legs are too big! My little rolls on the sides on my hips are ugly! WHY CAN’T I LOOK GOOD IN A SWIMSUIT! Sadly this is a lie most girls have come to believe. I went through a stage ( and some times struggle with it ) thinking I am over weight and I desperately wanted to lose it. I have the hour glass figure, so therefore I have some hips and some chest aria. My sister is very skinny and my mom says I compare my self too much to her. To be honest, I ignored her. I checked my BMI, and was starting to think…. ” hey, maybe I’m not fat. ” But my heart sunked when the chart said I was 5 lbs overweight. You might think 5 lbs? WHAT’S WRONG WITH YOU KID? Yeah I know my mom thought I was crazy to. But, 5 lbs felt like 40 to me. I asked all of my family if I was ” Fat”. They said no. I asked them ” but why did my BMI chart say I was overweight?!” All of them say I have extreme amounts of muscles, and muscle weighs more than fat. It made me feel better a little, but not much. I would wake up every morning, look at my stomach, and think it was to big. My mom would say if I didn’t like the size of my stomach, than do something about it! Well, I of course took it the wrong way and thought she was saying I was fat. I got depressed. Than later I started doing 20 sit ups a day, and drank tons of water. About a week later…. I lost 2 lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know, not a big weight lost but I was finally happy! For a while at least. Then I looked in the mirror again and though my stomach was still to big! I would say “my stomach needs to be completely flat”. I continued to exercise and drink water. I started to get in to many fights with my mom, and even had to skip out on a ” bonding day” with my cheer team! My sister and the rest of the girls went to get coffee without me. I was so angry at her! ” She just don’t understand me!” “I’m right she’s wrong.” I gave her so much grief! My mom later figured out that I was probably acting so short-tempered to everyone and being very mean, because it was the way I felt about myself. I didn’t believe her at first. But what if that was the reason? I felt the same, I was acting the same, right? WRONG! As soon as my mom prayed with me and told me I was beautiful, I immediately broke down crying and told her I was sorry over a million times! It was like I was finally free!!!!!!!!!!!!! I still exercise now ( sometimes, I get lazy 😅😄) but that’s nothing to beat yourself up about! Your beautiful just the way you are. It’s good to exercise, but don’t make it be so serious you start acting bad like I did. Remember God made you special, and he loves you very much!

Ok. Rewind the video to 4:39 and watch from there because he talks a lot. 🙂 MAKE SURE you do your normal stretching and warm ups, so you don’t hurt yourselves! Hold each position he gives you for 20 to 25 seconds. These stretches will help your kicks get higher, and also if your a cheerleader and need you bow and arrow, these stretches will stretch out your hips and hamstrings to be able to do that skill. In order to get your kicks much higher, it helps to have your full middle split. ( or at least almost all the way down ). Also it helps to have a lots of power and CONTROL. Sometimes I go and watch my brother at his karate class, and his teacher always mentions control each time. Find a wall or chair in your home, and do the practice kicks that he did at 9:57. It takes time to get all this, but you can do it! Don’t get frustrated if you can’t get your middle split in 2 days. It took me about 2 weeks worth of stretching to achieve my splits. Just stretch and practice, practice, practice everyday.
Hey guys! Yes, I know its been a while sence ive posted. This video is not of me, but the video that helped me get a backhandspring. WARNING! Try not to attempt this by yourself. Have a parent or guardian stand beside you or even your gymnastics, cheer, or dance teacher. Don’t worry about the very last part of the video that consist of back tucks, back whips, or round off back tucks. I promise ill get to those later. OK! One thing that I found kinda wrong in this video is you don’t really have to have a back walkover, but you wanna make sure your jumping back, instead of up, and if you jump up, your basically breaking your back to get into that curved position. To get the feel of what that curved position, have an adult or someone taller than you hold you up, like the picture curve your back where you hands will touch the ground, ( to me it looks like a banana ) when your hands touch, go a head and step out from the position ( like you would in a backwalkover or backbend kick over ). Now, this step is pretty easy, this is to show you when to jump, because you can jump to low or not enough, it sounds like a lot of work, but it’s better than having a bad habit later on right? Have the same person that spotted you earlier sit down on one knee like in the will you marry me position HAHA. Then sit on the person’s knee with your hands out in front of you. Let the person sike you out by taking his or her knee away from you body, so you will eventually fall on you tush or the side. That’s when you jump. You squat and get ready to jump into the skill you want to wait till you kinda falling then jump back. KEEP YOUR ARMS STRAIGHT THE WHOLE TIME, or its bad news for your head. If your scared go ahead and learn it on a trampoline. Once you follow all these steps, go for it! You can absolutely can do it! Remeber! You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength. Also, God has not given you a spirit of fear but of power, and love, and a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:7. Trust yourself, and God! You may fall a couple of times, ( as I did ) but that’s part of life, don’t let that steal your joy of getting a new skill. You got this!
